Hope in Crisis
After Hurricane Ida’s devastation hit Louisiana in August of 2021, an SCBC Disaster Relief Chainsaw Unit from Shandon Baptist Church moved in to assist. As the unit shared the Gospel with homeowners impacted by the hurricane, one couple made life-transforming decisions.
The husband, a local deputy sheriff, accepted Christ as Savior, and his wife, a local nurse, chose to rededicate her life to following Jesus. Team Lead Roy Hess said, “this ministry is an opportunity for the Lord to work through us. We’ve always said, ‘we cut trees to get to the heart!'” By the end of the week, the team saw five salvations while cutting trees on 24 properties in the Belle Chase area.
