Blessing Others through Disaster Relief
Berry, an SCBaptist Disaster Relief volunteer, considers it a privilege to serve God and the community through this ministry.
He finds great reward in helping individuals rebuild their lives after experiencing a disaster, all while demonstrating the love of Christ and sharing the Gospel. Reflecting on the profound impact of this work, Berry stated, “Helping people who have been through a disaster and helping them put a little part of their life back together… is very rewarding.”
For those affected by disaster, the presence of caring and selfless volunteers brings immense relief. Berry recognizes the significance of their sacrifice and the comfort it provides, stating, “The people are relieved to know that there are helping and caring people willing to sacrifice their time just to help them in their time of need.”
While the physical work of restoration is essential, Berry believes that sharing the message of Jesus and his love is the most fulfilling aspect of the ministry. Each day, Berry has the privilege of presenting individuals with a Bible and offering prayers, an act that brings immeasurable blessings. “Telling the people about Jesus and his love is the most rewarding, and to present them with a Bible and prayer at the end of the day is the biggest blessing in this ministry, and I thank God for that,” Berry said.
Furthermore, Berry emphasizes the power of camaraderie among the volunteers. Working side by side with fellow volunteers in the disaster relief efforts has forged deep and lasting connections. Berry describes the experience as a bond that creates “lifetime brothers and sisters in Christ,” an honor that adds richness and meaning to the journey.
This rewarding journey has not only allowed Berry to touch lives but also forge lifelong connections with fellow volunteers. “It’s been an honor to serve together and I give glory to God for all of it,” Berry said.
