Any student of a SCBaptist church can participate in SCGO Students. Further requirements will be determined by each Certified Sending Partner. The goal of SCGO Students is to provide mission projects for students that do not otherwise have a similar opportunity through their own local church. 

Age limits are determined by the specific project. Overseas opportunities are tailored for high school students. Domestic projects may be for a larger range of ages. 

The cost of each trip depends on the specific project. Each trip will have a fixed "ground cost" listed and an "airfare range" to account for the variability of airfare prices at the time of booking.

Every effort is made to ensure a safe and secure experience for all participants. Trip locations are monitored by the Certified Sending Partner, local missionaries, church planters, and ministry leaders. Comprehensive training is provided for leaders and team members, and all participants are covered by travel insurance in case of emergencies. Applicants are required to complete an application, provide references, and undergo a vetting process to ensure the right people are part of the team. Students are supervised at all times, with an appropriate adult-to-student ratio maintained for every project. SCGO Student Projects are not located in high-risk areas on the mission frontier, but participants should be aware that travel always carries some risks, similar to those of a family vacation abroad.

Yes, certainly. This should be your first option. SCGO Student trips are designed for students who do not have a similar opportunity within their own local church.  If your church does not have the capacity to do short term mission trips or maybe does not go overseas, we would encourage you to apply for SCGO Students. 

These trips are open to any South Carolina Baptist student, no matter where they live in the state. The Certified Sending Partner can give you information online. You may be asked to travel to the host church for a training session, which typically happens once. Additionally, you will need to arrange your own transportation to join the team at their designated departure location for the trip.

There will be no effort to encourage students to leave their church for another. Our Certified Sending Partners are Kingdom-minded leaders focused on collaboration, not competition. Instead, students will be encouraged to return to their home church and take the initiative to lead or inspire their own mission projects.

If you are going on an international trip, you should apply for a passport as soon as possible. Sometimes this takes two to three months to accomplish. If you have a passport, but it is set to expire within six months of your travel dates, you should renew it. 

Certified Sending Partners are experienced mission leaders who have been thoroughly vetted by the South Carolina Baptist Convention to ensure they are experienced, competent, and responsible. They have undergone background checks and can train others in safety and security measures for mission trips. With a genuine passion for students and a proven track record of excellence in mission leadership, these leaders represent the best in our state. We would confidently entrust our own children to their care for these trips.

The available spots are determined for individual trips by host churches. For many trips, the host church will have the majority of the spots and will open up a handful of spots for students to join them. If a church has four or more students who would like to go on the same trip, please have your student pastor contact charlieswain@scbaptist.org about how to host a trip. 

The trips are intended for middle or high school aged students, although the Certified Sending Partner may want to include a College student.  We would encourage you to look at our collegiate mobilization opportunities.

There is no application fee. However, once you are approved by the Certified Sending Partner, you will be asked to pay a non-refundable deposit to secure your spot on the trip.  

If for any reason you have to drop out of a trip, the refund will be determined by the Certified Sending Partner. If funds have already been used, they may be non-refundable.  

It depends on the situation, but in most cases, your funds will be refunded. If the trip does not happen due to unforeseen circumstances, your Certified Sending Partner will provide clear communication to each family about the next steps.
