Prayer Guide- Hawaii Fires

Please pray for the people of Maui, Hawaii who experienced the devastating fires.

  1. Pray for grieving families as they mourn the loss of those who perished in the fires.
  2. Pray for families still awaiting word on missing family members.
  3. Pray for thousands who have lost their homes and personal possessions. By early September, officials were still not allowing homeowners access to their property.
  4. Pray for families who have been moved from shelters to hotels as they adjust to long-term temporary living conditions.
  5. Pray that God would use Southern Baptist efforts to shine His light in the aftermath of this devastation and darkness.

Disaster Relief Needs, 9/13/23

This prayer list will be updated as the disaster response develops.

6 – John and Gay Williams are the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention (HPBC) Disaster Relief co-directors. Pray for stamina, clear thinking, and wisdom for John and Gay as they lead.

7 – Pray for the pastors, leaders, and members of Maui Baptist churches as they minister in these times.

8 – Pray that officials will be cooperative and compassionate in deciding to allow Disaster Relief volunteers to assist families to recover personal property from the ashes of their homes.

9 – Housing in churches has been arranged for Disaster Relief volunteers to come in from other states. Pray that DR teams from the west coast will be ready to go on short notice when the opportunity opens up.

10 – Join in praise to the Lord that Hawaii Pacific Disaster Relief ministry has a strong core of trained volunteers and great equipment, standing ready to bring help, hope, and healing to the people of Maui.
