Prayer Guide for School Walk-Through
Prayer is key to God’s work among people.
If we want God to work in our schools, prayer is going to be our primary avenue of God’s presence. The following resource is intended to guide your church, ministry, or family as you engage in a prayer walk through your local school. As you walk, pray silently over each classroom and hallway. If you desire, gather in small groups of two to four people and pray together over specific places and people.
The primary two components to pray for are the students and the faculty:
Prayers for Students
- Pray they have a spirit of peace and joy as the come to school
- Pray for a spirit of thoughtfulness and consideration for others
- Pray for the fruit of the Spirit to be evident: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self control
- Pray for their endurance and strength as learning can be hard and exhausting
- Pray that those who know Jesus will become stronger in their relationship to Jesus and that those who do not know Jesus will call on Jesus and be saved
Prayers for Faculty
- Pray for the fruit of the Spirit to be evident in them and their classroom: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self control
- Pray for endurance and strength as teaching is rewarding but hard and exhausting work
- Pray for wisdom to make wise decisions regarding students behavior and learning
- Pray they have peace in their hearts and minds
- Pray that those who know Jesus will model Jesus to others and pray that those who do not know Jesus will call on Jesus and be saved
