In the 2022 – 2023 school year, there were 1,201 international teachers working in South Carolina, and the numbers are rising. These teachers arrive with only 2 suitcases and limited funds to rent and furnish an apartment and find transportation.  Many spend several years sleeping on the floor or on an air mattress. Some have no one to meet them at the airport. All need a friend to encourage and support them during this time of transition.

Churches in Aiken, Columbia, Sumter, Charleston, Darlington, and Rock Hill are intentionally ministering to these teachers.  They are providing welcome baskets, Housewarming Parties (where they can choose home goods at no cost), and fellowship opportunities with other internationals and with church members who connect with them throughout the year.
