Trauma-Informed Training

April 24 – South Carolina Baptist Convention, 9am – 1pm

Doors open at 8:30am

Cost: $10

Every day we hear of children or teens who are hurting. They are in our homes, schools, Good News Clubs, Sunday Schools, and Youth Groups. We often recognize them by their behavior. The tendency can be to ask ourselves, “What is wrong with him/her?” instead of “What happened to him/her?” We often don’t know how to best respond. Join us to learn more:

  • What is trauma?
  • How does it affect a child (or adult)?
  • How can we sensitively connect with children from hard backgrounds?
  • How can we identify challenging behaviors and promote healing instead of harm?

Guest Speaker: Tana Dukes, Low Country Director of Foster Care at Connie Maxwell Children’s Ministries & TBRI Practitioner

Tana will lead us in a TBRI Introduction and Overview Training. TBRI is an attachment-based, evidence-based, and trauma informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connect Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. The TBRI Introduction and Overview training is designed to expose you to all parts of TBRI by highlighting the ways in which each section of the intervention strategy fits into the holistic nature of TBRI.
