Update – Hurricane Francine

SCBaptist Disaster Relief is very close to completing all the job requests we have received from residents in the Edisto River area after flooding caused by Hurricane Debby. All states nationwide have now been requested to assist in Louisiana with cleanup from Hurricane Francine.

The Hurricane Debby response in St. George is into its sixth week. There were also a couple of weeks of work by Alabama DR in Walterboro. As of Sept. 12, Baptist DR volunteers had completed 44 flood recovery jobs, as well as 5 chainsaw and 6 roof tarping jobs. So far, the gospel message has been shared over 50 times during nearly 1300 ministry contacts, with 2 people accepting Christ as Savior! Final results will be tallied when the site closes next week.

Just as the lowcountry response is coming to a close, Louisiana DR has requested assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Francine. Neighboring states have already helped to open mass feeding sites in Baton Rouge, Kenner, and New Orleans. Recovery sites (chainsaw and mud-out) are being opened in Houma and Morgan City. We are asked to send chainsaw and/or mud-out units to those sites to give help and hope to the survivors of this most recent hurricane.

Please pray for the residents, the responders, and the DR leaders and volunteers mobilizing to help Louisiana. To support SC Baptist Disaster Relief efforts in Louisiana and future disaster areas, giving can be done through the button below.
