The Lexington Association launched the Jethro Project to mobilize retirees to serve in a European city. The Association rented an apartment and enlisted retired couples to serve alongside local missionaries for three months at a time. They volunteered at a community center teaching English and helped out when mission teams were there. Most of all they encouraged the missionaries and helped out wherever they were needed.
Tim and Maggie Rice volunteered in Bangkok, Thailand for a month during the summer. They served with a local church delivering healthy food to refugee families in need. While visiting refugees in their homes, they listened to their stories, prayed with them and shared stories of Hope from the Bible. Tim and Maggie also taught Bible and English two days a week at the school for refugee children.  The Rices were trained alongside church members and helped conduct eye glass clinics in several communities as well. Their biggest investment of time was spent with missionary families seeing the sights, learning about the culture and encouraging them.Â
