Join us for a one day summit from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. for pastors and ministry leaders to help restore mission and hope for God’s Church. There will be six breakout options to equip leaders to help further God’s mission in your context. Lunch will be provided.

JJ Washington grew up in Clearwater, FL, and Stone Mountain, graduating from Stone Mountain High School in 1999. <\/span>JJ <\/span>earned a football scholarship to<\/span> play <\/span>cornerback <\/span>for the North Carolina State Wolfpack<\/span> from 1999\u20132003<\/span>. During the Fall of 2000, against their rivals, the University of North Carolina, he tore his<\/span> ACL <\/span>(Anterior Cruciate Ligament) <\/span>in his left knee<\/span>, which<\/span> ended his season.\u00a0During the rehabilitation period following surgery, JJ was introduced to <\/span>a local pastor<\/span> at a campus Bible study in<\/span> the summer of <\/span>2001. JJ, seeking someone to pray over his knee, ended up having a life-changing experience when Rev. <\/span>David <\/span>Cameron shared the Gospel with him.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0On that night, JJ repented of his sin and personally accepted Jesus Christ <\/span>as <\/span>his Savior & Lord <\/span>and the rest is history!\u00a0JJ quickly got involved with several campus ministries, and within one year <\/span>(2002) <\/span>he began to preach the Gospel on the <\/span>campus and<\/span> led devotionals and Bible studies every week. In 2003, with one year of eligibility remaining, JJ decided to forgo his last year of football, graduate with his B.A. in Communications, and enter the ministry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

JJ <\/span>began<\/span> his ministerial career <\/span>as <\/span>a youth <\/span>pastor<\/span> before eventually<\/span> serving<\/span> a<\/span>s<\/span> a children\u2019s <\/span>pastor<\/span> also<\/span>, and<\/span> he played a strategic role in two<\/span> church plants.\u00a0<\/span>JJ later <\/span>joined<\/span> the staff at First Baptist Church Woodstock<\/span> as <\/span>a mentee first and then later as <\/span>a member of their pastoral staff <\/span>before<\/span> transition<\/span>ing<\/span> to<\/span> lead<\/span> their sister church Woodstock Church-Austell through 2019. JJ<\/span> was <\/span>eventually <\/span>recruited<\/span> to<\/span> join the church strengthening team for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board <\/span>(GBMB) <\/span>in January 2020. JJ <\/span>began his service <\/span>at the GBMB <\/span>as the Missions Consultant for the West Central Region<\/span> and eventually became the Evangelism Catalyst for the state<\/span> of <\/span>Georgia. <\/span>Additionally, d<\/span>uring th<\/span>is <\/span>same <\/span>period<\/span>,<\/span> JJ <\/span>became an adjunct professor at<\/span> his alma mater, <\/span>Luther Rice Seminary & University<\/span>, where he t<\/span>aught<\/span> pastoral ministry courses<\/span> thru 2022<\/span>. In the<\/span> summer <\/span>of 2022, <\/span>JJ t<\/span>ransitioned <\/span>from the GBMB <\/span>to the North American Mission Board (NAMB) where he currently<\/span> serve<\/span>s<\/span> as the <\/span>National <\/span>Director of Personal Evangelism<\/span>.<\/span> JJ is a licensed and ordained minister, and he holds a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership (Luther Rice Seminary), a Master of Divinity Degree (Luther Rice Seminary), and a Doctor of Ministry Degree (Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary). JJ has been married to his wife, Tamara B.
