Madagascar
Evangelism
Dates TBD (4 to 6 weeks) | $2,900
Madagascar is the fifth largest island in the world, and a unique cultural blend of African and Southeast Asian cultures. Most Malagasy people have exposure to Christianity, with some strong, evangelical churches in the capital, as well as in towns and villages across the island. However, ancestor veneration and animism have deep roots in the culture as well, especially in the rural, coastal areas. Many unbelievers see Christianity as a foreign religion with little impact on their daily lives, while many believers wrestle deeply with how to live out their faith in the midst of their family obligations and animistic communities.
Aide in the ongoing efforts of the local Malagasy Baptist church. This church offers English classes that allow for teaching the Gospel through English lessons, and you will build relationships and connections to leave with the missionaries after your time there.
Other opportunities include joining a Bible story-crafting group at one of the local Malagasy churches. You will get to experience this church for yourself during worship, where you’ll join Malagasy believers worshiping together at church, maybe taking a turn teaching the kids or the adults (with a translator) or singing with the choir.
