SCBaptists are on a mission to partner with the International Mission Board to reach Sub-Saharan Africa with the hope of the Gospel.

Recently, Kingdom Life Church in Simpsonville, SC, hosted Connect2Africa, an event organized by the International Mission Board (IMB) to serve as a platform for individuals and churches to learn from IMB missionaries about partnering in the mission field of Sub-Saharan Africa.

Training and Equipping

The event commenced on Friday night, setting the tone for two days of training and breakout sessions. Throughout the weekend, participants had the privilege of delving into essential topics promoting awareness about culture, religious beliefs, mission needs, and more.

The event also focused on equipping attendees with practical skills for missionary work. Training in evangelism, discipleship, healthcare initiatives, and student outreach was a central part of the event, aiming to serve individuals and churches with the knowledge and tools they need to make a lasting impact on the communities they serve.

SCBaptist Pastors Share Insight

This summer, a group of African American SCBaptist pastors traveled to Angola and Zambia for a vision trip, driven by a desire to share the Gospel, strengthen ministries, and forge meaningful connections with brothers and sisters in Christ.

Through a panel discussion, Alex Sands, Andre Rogers, Andre Melvin, Walter Belton, Will Broadus, Rickie Sarratt, and Ronald Henderson shared about their trip. “It’s my prayer that our stories will prick the hearts of SCBaptists to come and share the Gospel of Christ,” Michael Pigg, Director of African American Engagement at SCBaptist, said.

Partnering to Reach the Unreached

Attendees also heard from IMB leaders, including Shawna Davis, who shared powerful stories from the mission field. IMB missionaries in Sub-Saharan Africa have a goal to engage 55 unengaged, unreached people groups with the Gospel by the year 2025.

Among these groups, which are the largest unengaged and unreached in Sub-Saharan Africa, there are few or no Christians or churches. Andre Rogers, one of the SCBaptist pastors who attended this summer’s vision trip, said, “God is at work in Africa, and let’s be a part of it.”
