Recent high school graduate, Natalie Cannon, found her calling in worship leadership through the transformative uWorship Weekend.

“It was an amazing opportunity for me to grow as a worship leader and gather with students all over the state to lead worship together,” Cannon said.

For over forty years, uWorship Weekend, a Baptist AllState event, has provided a time for students in middle school through college to join together for music, community, and worship. There are also breakout sessions for students to learn more specific skills and be equipped to lead in worship. Hosted at Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo, SC, the event partners with Anderson University, North Greenville University, and Charleston Southern University to provide leadership and education on a variety of topics related to worship ministry.

Pursuing Worship Ministry

It was during this event that Cannon felt God’s call to pursue worship ministry. The weekend served as a turning point in her life, igniting a passion for worship leadership that led her to take the first step towards discerning her calling. After the event, Cannon pursued a worship leadership internship with Mill City Church in West Columbia, SC, where she was challenged to grow in her walk with the Lord and in her calling as a worship leader.

As she prepares to major in worship leadership at North Greenville University, Cannon feels equipped to pursue her calling with confidence and passion. The hands-on experience she gained at Mill City has provided a strong foundation upon which she can build her future as a worship leader. “It’s been a great summer of discerning what the Lord might have for me in the future,” she said.
