ADOPTION Grants
As we seek to encourage our churches to place a high value on fostering and adopting vulnerable children in South Carolina, the South Carolina Baptist Convention is making $100,000 available to help reduce barriers for church members to care for vulnerable children in the foster system.
Currently, in South Carolina, there are 119 children in foster care who are legally available for adoption – the parental rights of the birth parents have been terminated. Our churches could have a dramatic impact on this population of vulnerable children and youth by welcoming them into loving homes.
Adoption grants may be requested by the senior pastor of an SCBaptist congregation on behalf of families for adoption-related expenses when adopting out of the South Carolina foster care system.
Application deadline is December 31, 2024.
Adoption Grants
Grants will be made available to churches in good standing with the South Carolina Baptist Convention.
Grants will only be made available for adoptions of children coming out of DSS foster system in South Carolina.
Funds will be administered to the requesting church once child placement has occurred with family.
Grants will be in the amount of $3,000 payable to the local church on behalf of the adopting family. These funds may be used for any expenses incurred in the adoption process, including home preparedness, family counseling, therapeutic intervention after placement, etc.
